Have you ever found yourself in the 23rd minute of someone’s presentation wondering if, and hoping, that the end was near? You’re surely the type, then, who'd love the spoken-word Read650 series which, this Sunday afternoon in collaboration with Carnegie Hall, is having a pre-St. Patrick’s Day celebration at City Winery, 155 Varick St., Downtown Manhattan.
All of the readers are confined to 5 minutes or less for “Straight Outta Ireland, True Stories of Immigration, Adaptation, And Celebration.”
They also promise to be keep it to 650 words or less (we haven’t been told if anyone has ever done exactly 650 words).
Some familiar names among the dozen or so readers are Colin Broderick, Honor Finnegan, Charles Hale, Malachy McCourt, Maura Mulligan and Jack O’Connell. All certainly have track records that suggest that they can present “sharp and shapely five-minute stories whose Irish parentage will stir and surprise you.”
