The New York Yankees’ home opener against Tampa Bay Rays scheduled for a 1:05 p.m. start today was postponed because of worse than expected snow conditions in the city. It will instead take place tomorrow. The Easter Monday snowfall that blanketed the region – this picture of a block in Queens was taken at 8 a.m. – hasn’t made nor’easter status, however. “The magnitude of this storm is not quite up to par,” John Murray, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service., told the New York Times. For one thing, a nor’easter is defined by sustained winds of 39 miles an hour, whereas today’s storm will have winds peaking at just 25 miles per hour.
