The Floral Park Fire Department on Long Island has honored Patrick J. Smith for his service as Captain of the Alert Engine Company # 1 from 2015 to 2017. The celebratory gathering was at Coral House Caterers in Baldwin. Smith, born in Brooklyn but raised in Ireland, was honored at the Irish Echo First Responders Awards in 2014. His many community credits include membership of the AOH, chairmanship of Cavan Gaelic Football Club, and membership of the Irish American Society. He is pictured at the celebratory gathering with his wife of 31 years, Kit.
