It was announced at the gala by Kieran McLoughlin, president & CEO of the Worldwide Ireland Funds, and Loretta Brennan Glucksman, chairman of the American Ireland Fund, that the Worldwide Ireland Funds Promising Ireland Campaign had overtaken its $100 million goal 19 months early. The Promising Ireland Campaign has now raised over $120 million.

In addition to President Higgins, the gala, which honored Bank of America's CEO Brian T. Moynihan, was attended by Mayor Michael Bloomberg, Police Commissioner Ray Kelly, Speaker Christine Quinn, Nobel Laureate, Elie Wiesel and author Colum McCann.

Chaired by William Mullaney and Brian Ruane, the gala honored Mr. Moynihan by conferring the Leslie C. Quick Jr. Leadership Award for his corporate leadership, philanthropy, and commitment to Ireland.
