Private pitch to U.S. firms

A new initiative led by the Irish private sector aims to entice U.S. companies to set up shop in Ireland.

"Ireland Gateway to Europe," is being backed by those still-standing corporate titans of Ireland and will roll into Boston on March 27.

"The objective of the Boston expo is to provide practical information to U.S. corporates and their advisors who have an interest in establishing operations in Ireland, or the European Union," said Adrian McGennis, CEO of Sigmar Recruitment and the driving force behind the new venture.

"It's estimated that two to four U.S. companies visit Ireland every week with a view to setting up business; that equates to one hundred to 200 companies a year," said McGennis.

"But by bringing Ireland to the U.S., the Boston expo is hoping to attract 250 companies in just one day."

Among the Irish exhibiting at the World Trade Center showcase will be Mazars, Telecity Group, ML Capital, AIB, ByrneWallace and the FKM Group.

"Companies who have invested in Ireland have benefited hugely," added McGennis.

"We have much to offer and Ireland is more than just open for business, it is incredibly competitive on a global scale with an inviting and proven business environment."
