Man. United, City have equal points

Manchester United dropped their first points of the season when they were held to a 1-1 by Stoke City on Saturday, but The Red Devils still remain top of the Premier League table, but only on goal difference from local rivals Manchester City. The Blue side of Manchester saw their team go top of the table briefly on Saturday afternoon thanks to a 2-0 home win over Everton. Nani scored for the Reds later at the Britannia Stadium, but lanky England striker Peter Crouch earned Stoke a share of the points with his first goal for the club. In London the pressure eased on Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger as the Gunners beat Bolton 2-0 and Liverpool also got back into the winning ways, beating Wolves 2-1 at Anfield. Richard Dunne was Ireland's hero in Moscow a few weeks back, but an own goal made him the villain as his club Aston Villa drew 1-1 with QPR at Loftus Road.

At home Derry City won the EA Sports Cup, beating Cork City in the final at Turner's Cross. Eamon Zayed got the all important goal from the penalty spot as Derry took the League-Cup trophy for a record 10th time. In the League Shamrock Rovers, who were knocked out of the FAI Cup by Sligo Rovers last week, joined Sligo at the top of the table on Sunday evening thanks to a 5-2 win over Bray Wanderers at Tallaght Stadium. Sligo had beaten Drogheda United 3-0 at Hunky Dory Park on Friday night. That's not a mistake, Drogheda's United Park is now sponsored by Hunky Dorys, the Donegal-based crisps company who have produced eye-catching billboard ads in recent weeks featuring young women in skimpy football outfits.
