East Durham open for Labor Day weekend

While some Catskill communities were devastated by Hurricane Irene, East Durham came through comparatively unscathed and the popular Irish resort town is ready and open for the Labor Day weekend.

In a statement, one of the town's Irish venues, Gavin's, said that "by some miracle" it was not affected "and we are virtually untouched by the storm.

"Our pool is open, our pub is open, our hotel rooms are available, and we are preparing for a fun Labor Day weekend. We will be having Andy Cooney this Thursday thru Saturday and for the first time the Prodigals will be with us on Sunday evening. There is also an Irish festival in our town this weekend too," said the statement.

"Please keep Windham, Prattsville and Oak Hill in your prayers as they are undergoing a lot of hardship. Like everyone, they will rebuild and prosper again," it added.
