Offaly girl dies after tractor fall

The family of a four-year-old Offaly girl who died after falling from a tractor at the weekend have paid tribute to her, saying she was a "beautiful, chatty, little girl."

Maria McInerney from Birr, died after the accident at her grandfather's farm in Killeigh. She was playing on a tractor when she slipped and fell off, hitting her head. After the accident, she was rushed to the local hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.

She was buried with her dolls on Monday.

Maria's mother, Louise, said her daughter had "two of the most sparkling brown eyes you'd ever seen and a smile that could break anyone's heart" and was "so beautiful and full of devilment."

The second youngest of six children, Maria was due to start school in September.
