Death of Anne Mullaney

One of Pittsburgh's leading Irish American activists, Anne Mullaney, died on Good Friday. Mullaney was a member of the Ireland Institute of Pittsburgh's board, and worked tirelessly for many other non profits groups in the Pittsburgh area.

Mullaney, who was 54, also owned and operated Pittsburgh's largest and most recognized Irish pub and restaurant, Mullaney's Harp and Fiddle. The cause of death was cancer.

According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, "many a night," Mullaney could be found in the Harp and Fiddle with her husband, Maurice "Mo" Cohill Jr., "but she was also a lawyer whose resume ran longer than her pub's menu.

"She served on many boards, often as president, and the countless times Ms. Mullaney went beyond her official duties are what her many friends remember."
