Law & Order Honoree

Sean P. Moynihan is the founder and Principal of The Moynihan Group, LLC; a Boston based legal and consultancy firm which specializes in government relations, business development and enhancing the economic and political links with the island of Ireland.

Moynihan has a dynamic record of professional experience in the insurance, financial services, non-profit, and public sectors of the economy. He spent over a decade in the public service arena, where he held various positions within the Massachusetts House of Representatives including Legislative Director, Counsel to the House Ways and Means Committee and Counsel to the House Majority Leader, during which time he worked on a myriad of public policy issues, in particular energy and the environment, life sciences/biotech, education, labor, and the administration of justice in the Commonwealth.

In his efforts to promote additional and substantive ties with Ireland, Moynihan served as a special assistant to a legislative trade mission to Belfast, Derry, and Dublin in 2001. In 2002, he traveled to Enniskillen, Fermanagh to develop and co-author the goals and objectives of the William J. Clinton Centre.

This year Moynihan was honored in New York by the Irish Echo as one of its Top 40 Under 40 for 2009. In addition to the recognition, Moynihan was chosen to receive a young leadership award sponsored by both the Irish Echo and the Presidents' Club of Belfast.

Moynihan serves on the Board of Director's of the Boston Irish Business Association (BIBA). He has also served as a volunteer member of the Irish Immigration Center's annual Solas Award Dinner Committee and is an active member of the Irish Cultural Center of New England (ICCNE). Moynihan was a key member of the team which delivered the successful Gateways to Tomorrow conference linking Massachusetts and Northwest Ireland in the World Trade Center, Boston, in October of this year.

He lives in South Boston with his wife Lynn and their children Maeve and Declan.
