Dáithí Has His Copy

Pic of Day: Readers will recall our story last week about Dáithí Mac Gabhann, who is on an organ (heart) transplant waiting list in Northern Ireland. As reported, in 2021 new legislation went through Stormont that was due to come into effect this year. It would see the introduction of a soft-opt out system whereby people would automatically become organ donors unless they state otherwise. However, with Stormont not sitting because of the DUP boycott, the law's introduction has been delayed, much to the frustration of the Mac Gabhann family. The family is due to meet with Secretary of State Christ Heaton-Harris today February 1, and the beginning of National Heart Month. Well, here's Dáithí with his copy of the Echo and himself on the front page. Perhaps Mr. Heaton-Harris will get a look too.
