Member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians gathered last weekend in Lower Manhattan to unveil a 40” X 40” Bronze Plaque in memory of members lost on September 11, 2001.
The families of Gregory Florence, Kevin C. Dowdell and Arthur Warren Scullin were in attendance with approximately 150 members of the AOH and LAOH.
A Mass at St. Peter's Church and a wreath laying ceremony at the 9/11 Memorial Fountains were also part of the day's memorial events.
The plaque has been permanently mounted to the interior wall in the back of St Peter’s Church across the street from the World Trade Center.
John Manning, AOH New York State President said that the placing of the plaque in St. Peter's would mean that for generations to come people would be able "to read the names of the eighteen deceased brother and sister Hibernians that made the supreme sacrifice on September 11, 2001."
