For the second time in his four year term President Trump has been impeached by the House of Representatives. Unlike the first impeachment, Wednesday’s vote was bipartisan with ten Republicans voting along with all House Democrats.

The article of impeachment reads in part: “In his conduct while President of the United States – and in violation of his constitutional oath faithfully to execute the office of President of the United States and, to the best of his ability, preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States, and in violation of his constitutional duty to take care that the laws be faithfully executed – Donald John Trump engaged in high Crimes and Misdemeanors by inciting violence against the Government of the United States.”

Congressman Brendan Boyle, whose experiences during the January 6 attack on the Capitol, released a statement regarding his vote to impeach President Donald Trump.

Stated Boyle, a Philadelphia Democrat: “Today, I voted to impeach the President for inciting a violent and deadly insurrection against our democracy.

“President Trump gravely endangered the security of the United States, threatened the integrity of the democratic system, and interfered with the peaceful transition of power. He not only caused this attack, but also refused to stop it. President Trump betrayed the solemn oath he took four years ago to ‘preserve and protect’ our country. Words fall short in describing just how horrifically this President has failed us and endangered us.

“This is now the fifth impeachment proceeding against a president of the United States and the second for President Trump. I recognize the severity of what Congress is doing today, but the factual evidence for inciting an insurrection is clear and convincing.

“He acted in a manner grossly incompatible with self-governance and the rule of law. Donald J. Trump is a clear and present danger to the American people now and thus warrants impeachment, removal from office, and disqualification to hold any office of honor and trust in the United States.

“As I started previously, for the sake of our constitution and the sake of our country, for Americans today and tomorrow, the House should be united in impeaching President Trump.”
