Former Meath footballer Colm O’Rourke says he doesn’t think he will ever become Meath senior football manager, after being turned down three times. A star forward in the Meath team of the 1980s and early ‘90s, O’Rourke has been one of RTE’s most popular match analysts in recent years. He managed Simonstown Gaels to win the Meath senior championship and also managed the Irish Compromise Rules team against Australia. But the 62-year-old, who was born in Leitrim and moved to Meath as young boy, said: ‘‘Obviously they were very bright people in the group that were giving out the job on those three occasions that I applied and went forward for interview. I have been interviewed for the job, several times, and I didn’t get it. So I can do no more than that. I rest my case.’’
