Imbolg, Brigid’s Day to be celebrated in NYC

Nollaig Na mBan NY will present an afternoon of Irish culture and entertainment marking Imbolg, the beginning of spring, also known as St. Brigid’s Day (Feb. 1) for Ireland’s other patron saint, on next Sunday afternoon, Feb. 3, at from 1:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. at Ripley Grier Studios, 520 8th Ave. (36th-37th St.) Room 17D. The event will support The Dwelling Place of New York, a transitional residence for homeless women.

The program will feature singer/songwriter Mary Courtney and fiddler Vonnie Quinn. Dolores Nolan, Nancy Oda and Vera Wrenn will perform "Brigid," a short play by Maura Mulligan. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn a song in the Irish language and master the weaving of a Brigid’s cross. Refreshments will be served. Suggested donation at the door is $20.
