Today marks the 68th anniversary of the formation of the inter-party government and the election as taoiseach of John A. Costello (pictured). It was this government, which included Dr. Sean MacBride in its cabinet, that would repeal the External Relations Act, thus scrapping the Irish Free State create in favor of a 26 County Republic.
