Army sends right signal to Hynes

It was a proud day indeed for Kenneth Hynes when he was recently promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Army. Kenneth, a graduate of Mahopac High School in New York, Boston University and Colorado University, was raised to his new rank by Major General Alan Lynn, Commanding Officer of the Army Signal Corps.

The newly minted colonel is the son of Brendan Hynes, from Ballinasloe, County Galway and now of Fishkill, NY, and the former Anne McDonnell of Glenamoy, Ballina, County Mayo. the promotion ceremony was held at Fort Gordon, GA.

Lt. Col. Hynes, has been in the U.S. Army for 18 years and has served seven tours of duty, including with Special Forces, in Tunisia, South Korea and Germany. Three of the tours were in Iraq. Hynes is a recipient of the Meritorious Service Medal from the President of the United States for his service in the war against terrorism.
