Roswell, New Mexico seems to be passé for the alien crowd. All the action has seemingly moved to the skies over Ireland.
The number of UFO's being reported in the skies over Ireland has increased by nearly 70 percent in the last three years.
The UFO Research Association of Ireland said that 59 incidents were reported in 2011, compared with 42 the year before, and just 35 in 2009.
According to an Irish Examiner report, association founder, Adam Tallon, suggested people were becoming more open to the possibility of UFOs and therefore feel more comfortable reporting a sighting to its website.
The association investigates all reported sighting and in most cases is able to ascribe natural phenomena or human action to them. But some reports are defying east explanation.
According to the association's website, there have been incidents where the objects seem to be intelligently controlled, or have been seen carrying out precise movements that are impossible for any known air or space crafts.
Mr. Tallon founded the association seven years ago. It adopted the name of the UFO Research Association of Ireland in 2008.
"There is a slow but gradual increase in incidents being reported which I would attribute to two things. The first that there wasn't really any place to report incidents prior to our organization and, secondly, I would attribute the increase to people being more comfortable reporting an incident compared to say ten years ago," said Tallon.
He added that people were not required to give any personal information to report a UFO, which can be done through the organization's website, ufoi.org.
