On guard

This was especially the case in the Denny's affair in which the restaurant chain made light of the Great Hunger in a planned television advertising campaign that now, thankfully, has been canned. This was an especially egregious faux pas on the part of a major corporation that has, or should have, the resources to do the right amount of homework before unleashing an ad campaign that was, to say the very least, insensitive. There is more that is insensitive and offensive in evidence at this time of year. Some of it can be simply ignored but, as with the Denny's case, there are situations where a line is crossed and there is no turning away.
