OLDEST IRISH AMERICAN NEWSPAPER IN USA, ESTABLISHED IN 1928

Coley Ryan

Coley Ryan, Sligo born and bred, and his partners Paul Morton and Brian Farrell established The Claddagh Pub & Restaurant on Jan 29th 1992 beside the Merrimack River in the heart of downtown Lawrence, Massachusetts. The Claddagh has become an institution in the Merrimack Valley and is the embodiment the proud Irish history of the Irish who built Lawrence.

The Claddagh is not only famous for its annual saint pats which is regularly attended by Massachusetts Irish and would-be Irish politicians but also has welcomed many political leaders from Ireland including Gerry Adams, Alex Maskey, Conor Murphy and Pearse O’Doherty and Irish musicians and singers including Lunasa, the Irish Tenors and the Chieftains.

Coley is perhaps best known for the stale jokes he tells over and over and over again….and then of course there is his singing voice. The Claddagh offers a host of entertainment that caters to a broad range of tastes in music, sports, food, games and live entertainment and has recently opened a sister pub called The Irish Cottage in Methuen, Mass.
