Faugh A Ballagh

Members of the 69th Regiment Historic group arriving at St. Patrick's Cathedral for the traditional St. Patrick's Day morning Mass. The members were part of a dawn parade from the Armory at Lexington Avenue and 26th Street up Madison Avenue to St. Patrick's. It was as significantly bigger marching contingent than last year and the Mass, as chief celebrant Cardinal Timothy Dolan noted, was well attended. After Mass a smaller contingent of parade committee officers and serving 69th members marched up the east side Fifth Avenue sidewalk to the American Irish Historical Society between 81st and 82nd Street. Mayor Bill de Blasio attended the start of the parade. New York Lieutenant Governor Kathy Hochul attended the cathedral Mass as did Irish Consul General in New York, Ciaran Madden.
