The life and legacy of Pete Hamill

In 2012 journalist and author Pete Hamill was named Irish Echo Irish American of the Year and he was duly honored at the New York-New Belfast conference in the summer of that year. Pete is pictured here on the front page of the Echo after receiving his award from friend and movie director Terry George. There will be report on Hamill's passing in this week's Echo, and also an appreciation penned by Jim Mulvaney, a fellow journalist who worked alongside Hamill at the Daily News.
