Marian marks 107!

Marian Early celebrated her 19th birthday at home in Rock, Co. Tyrone. It was July 4. That October, she made the emigrant’s transatlantic journey to New York, and so the July 4 she turned 20 was her first July Fourth, as in Independence Day. That was in 1930. Tomorrow, Marian Toal, as she’s been known since 1935, will mark her 107th birthday.

She and the late Terry Toal of Carrickmore, Co. Tyrone, raised their family in Yonkers, where they were very involved in the community for many decades. However, she has been resident in recent times in New Rochelle, N.Y. A friend told the Echo last week: “Marian is doing well and very much enjoys seeing her family and friends.”
