Walking in memory of Ireland’s Great Hunger

The Great Hunger is being marked this week by a group of academics, dressed in period costume and following in the footsteps of one thousand four hundred and ninety tenants forced from their homes in Roscommon in May, 1847. Among the walkers is Dr. Christine Kinealy of Quinnipiac University, pictured front with head bowed. The walk started in Strokestown House, Co. Roscommon and ends in Dublin at the Irish Emigration Museum.
