Brady or Ryan….in a bun

This Sunday’s Super Bowl is a game within a game.

The within part of it pits two quarterbacks with Irish names: Brady and Ryan.

Inspired by this battling Irish rivalry a New York bar and restaurant, on a strictly neutral basis of course, has unveiled its "Battle of the Irish QBurgers."

Foley’s, at 18 West 33rd Street, is actually home to the Irish Baseball Hall of Fame, but football is taking the lead in the next few days and up until Super Bowl Sunday, Feb. 5.

The hostelry’s quarterback-themed burgers are in honor of the Patriots’ Tom Brady and the Falcons’ Matt Ryan.

A portion of the proceeds of the burgers will go to charities that the respective quarterbacks have supported this year.

“We always like to put a fun twist on our big game menus, so we have named burger to recognize the Irish American quarterbacks of each remaining playoff team,” said Foley’s owner, Shaun Clancy.

So here’s how Ryan and Brady square up between the buns.

Matt Ryan’s is a corned beef burger stuffed with Swiss cheese and topped with corned beef and sauerkraut.

Tom Brady’s Irish Burger is stuffed with Irish bacon and sausage and is topped with a fried egg.

“You can wash either burger down with a Cape Cod cocktail or a Peach Tea cocktail,” said Clancy.

A portion of the proceeds from Tom Brady’s burger will go to Best Buddies – a charity the four-time champion supported in June 2016 and is the world’s largest non-profit organization dedicated to ending social, physical and economic isolation.

A portion of the proceeds from Matt Ryan’s burger will go to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, a non-profit organization that provides clinical care to children, which the MVP candidate and former Boston College quarterback has supported.
