Supreme Court hears important labor union case

The U.S. Supreme Court heard oral arguments in the important labor union case of “Friedricks vs. CA. Teachers Assn.” The issue is whether public labor unions can continue to collect compulsory membership dues. Individual who don’t want to join a union claim that the arrangement violates their First Amendment Rights. Justice Scalia is seen as the swing vote on this issue. Meanwhile, according to reports out today, the court has agreed to consider the government’s plea in support of President Obama’s executive actions on immigration, moves that have been blocked in lower courts.
