Roy Keane looks like he could be in the news again in the coming weeks. Last week the Corkman with linked with the Leicester job, which has become vacant after the club sacked Swede Sven Goran-Ericksson.

Keane, who has been out of job since quitting Ipswich last season, seems content doing the odd bit of punditry for English station ITV during their Champions League coverage, but I'm sure he probably does want to get back into management.

The former Ireland player will be in Dublin on Saturday night for the Professional Footballers annual awards and he will take part in a question and answer session with RTE's Tony O'Donoghue at the dinner. Keane always has something interesting to say and it will be interesting to get his view on Ireland's hopes in the play-off, his old club Manchester United and their neighbors Manchester City, who now lead the English Premier League. No doubt Keane misses playing. In a recent interview he said: ''I would nearly give my wife and kids away to go back and play in big game like a Manchester derby. People talk about the contracts and winning trophies, but it's about these derby games and the atmosphere around a big game like that.''

Keane was not at Old Trafford for the recent derby that saw United lose 6-1 to City. He said: ''I have kept my distance. People might think it's strange, but when I left I thought I needed to keep my distance and get on with my own life.''
