Aisling Center reaches out

The Aisling Irish Community Center and the Irish Volunteers for the Homeless will provide over 300 Thanksgiving meals for the homeless of New York on Monday, November 21.

Volunteers will assemble at the Aisling Irish Community Center that day at 1 p.m. and start preparing the meals.

"We expect to be ready to leave the center and head down to the city at 7 p.m. once all the meals have been prepared and all the soup and hot drinks donations collected from the local restaurants, delis and coffee shops.

"The food is handed out to the homeless at various locations in the city by 8 p.m. with volunteers assigned to three different routes. It will take up to two hours to feed over 300 homeless people, so we hope to be heading back up to Yonkers by 10 p.m. at the latest," said Aisling executive director, Orla Kelleher.
