Shane Long is almost certain to miss his country's Euro 2012 play-off with Estonia after it was confirmed that he will be sidelined for up to six weeks.

Long was injured during the first half of the West Brom's 2-1 Premier League win at Villa Park after Alan Hutton's two-footed lunge. The Irish striker attempted to play on but was forced to leave and West Brom have confirmed that he has suffered severe bone bruising.

Meanwhile, St Patrick's Athletic's long wait for FAI Cup glory goes on. The Saints last Cup success was 50 years ago in 1961 and since then they have lost six finals and several semifinals. This year Pats appeared to have semifinal against unfancied Shelbourne, but it was tied, and Shels won the replay 3-1.
