Milwaukee Fest includes Derry, Donegal theme

August 17, 2011

By Staff Reporter

The Milwaukee Irish Fest is a calendar standout, not just in the Wisconsin city but throughout the Midwest and beyond it to Irish America.

This year, Fest goers are being reminded of  connections across the ocean, specifically in counties Derry and Donegal.

This year’s Irish Fest is featuring a special showcase on Derry and Donegal, next-door neighbors that not infrequently relate to each other as if in an Irish world of their very own.

Derry was recently designated as the first ever UK City of Culture, and the city is now issuing a clarion call to its worldwide diaspora to come home to the banks of the Foyle and join in the celebrations which are set to get underway in 2013.
