Trinity invite for Clinton

February 16, 2011

By Staff Reporter

Former President Clinton been invited to deliver a keynote lecture at Trinity College in Dublin in May. Reportedly, he will receive as much as $150,000 for the lecture.

The Echo has learned that it is possible that Mr. Clinton will accept the invitation and plans to go North to speak to the political parties. He will do so without the official blessing of the Bush administration. He will likely be conferred with an honorary degree. There are no plans at this time for Sen. Hillary Clinton to accompany him, an aide said.

Clinton said last week at a fund-raising event that the Northern Ireland peace process will succeed because of the strength of the Northern Irish people. "They would tear the politicians limb from limb if they messed it up," he said.
