Celtics 6-6, Philadelphia 2-17

The U-12 contest Saturday at the Michael J. Quill Sports Center in East Durham, N.Y., turned out to be an exciting game with inspired performances from Philly’s Sean McNicholl, Fiachra Malone, Barry Trainor, Shane Callaghan, Sean McCaffrey, Gavin Lawn and Gerard Bourke, whose ability to take their scores from long range had the ahead 1-12 to 2-0 at the break.

Both Celtics’ goals came from the boot of U-10 player Daniel Tierney after a great set up by C.J. Molloy and Allison Traynor. Celtics introduced Patrick Traynor and Brian Slattery for the second half and the momentum began to swing. Goals by Slattery, Tierney, Molloy and points by Eoghan Kyne, Rory Cregan, Kieran Patton, Sean Tierney and Patrick Traynor had Celtics ahead at the final whistle.

Celtics 3-5, Philly 2-4

The U-10 contest was evenly contested until Celtics got the upper hand midway in the second half thanks to Kelly McArdle, Stephanie Tierney, Brendan Guerrier, Michael Lang, Daniel Tierney, Conor Cregan and Patrick Gormally. Catching the eye for Philly were Kaitlyn McElwee, Kellie Farrely, Aine McNicholl, Sinead Bourke, Billy Hegarty, Patrick Rooney, Danielle Slater and James Boyce.
