The Irish actor, who usually plays heroic figures (Michael Collins, a Jedi Master, etc.) will work against type when he plays wealthy international terrorist, super baddie and Bat nemesis Ra’s al Ghul in the movie. And for those of you who?ve been waiting for a new action figure to hang out with Liam?s Jedi Master doll, your prayers have been answered.

He dipped his feet into the network television waters a few years ago with ABC?s short-lived sitcom ?Madigan Men.? Now, there?s a strong possibility that Irish actor Gabriel Byrne will be heading back to the small screen as the star of a new entry in the wildly popular ?CSI?franchise, ?CSI: New York.? The show will split its film schedule between the Big Apple and Los Angeles, which would probably suit Byrne — a New York City resident and regular on the social circuit — perfectly. Byrne would join the fellow ?CSI? stars — William Peterson (?CSI: Las Vegas?) and David Caruso (?CSI: Miami?) — in the must-see (and sigh over!) category.

Never say that Irish pop star Ronan Keating doesn?t have his priorities right. The singer, who?s set to make his film debut in ?Guns, Money and Homecooking? alongside actress Anna Friel, insisted that filming be put off for a day. The reason? Ronan was scheduled to report to the set on March 15 — which happened to be his son Jack?s birthday. The Keating family will be busy that day, opening presents and blowing out candles . . .

The Dubliners will be presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award at this year?s Meteor Ireland Music Awards, which take place at Dublin?s Point Theater on Monday, March 1. Also performing on the night will be Lionel Ritchie, Counting Crows, The Corrs and Westlife.

Millions of women can only dream about having Samantha Mumba?s current problem: the Irish pop star is being hounded by a very lovesick Robbie Williams. The British singer has bombarded Sam with text messages pleading for a date. But sources told The Sun newspaper that, while Samantha is ?very flattered? by all the attention she?s received from ?one of the world?s most eligible bachelors,? she?s quite content with her American boyfriend. Take that, Robbie.
