Iona, Compaq announce e-business partnership

February 16, 2011

By Staff Reporter

The Irish-based software company Iona Technologies has agreed to a worldwide partnership with Compaq Computer Corp. to help customers cut the cost of doing business electronically.

Under the agreement, Iona and Compaq will jointly develop, market and sell versions of IONAi portal suite and other Iona products supporting Compaq products.

The portal suite product is designed to address problems in developing, deploying and managing a specific class of ebusiness applications known as enterprise portals.

Compaq Professional Services will incorporate Iona technologies into its Compaq NonStop e-business solutions offerings, and Compaq will have worldwide distribution rights to all Iona products.

"With its offerings in the areas of internet infrastructure, and its ability to drive industry-standard solutions to broad markets, Compaq is uniquely qualified to meet enterprise e-business needs," said Chris Horn, the chairman and CEO of Iona Technologies.

"Iona’s products are extremely complementary to our focus on Microsoft technologies," according to Franc Gentili, director of Applied Technologies and Architectures, Compaq Professional Services. "With the ability to integrate these products into our services offerings, we will be able to extend our expertise in the areas of component integration and work closely with Iona to meet the needs of our many mutual customers. Iona has been a long time partner of Compaq Professional Services and we look forward to their next generation of products."

Iona Technologies is a leading provider of software and services that help organizations build and deploy enterprise portals, internet commerce sites, and other large-scale distributed applications.

Iona also announced record fourth quarter revenues of $33.2 million in the last three months of 1999, up from $26.5 million a year earlier.
