A distraught family in Yonkers is appealing for information about their 25-year-old son and brother who has been missing for a year and a half.
Daniel Ryan was last seen on Saturday, Aug. 15, 1998 in the vicinity of 235th Street and White Plains Road in the Bronx, where, it is believed, he visited a sports bar.
Many Irish people will remember that television newscasts on that evening were dominated by reports from Omagh, Co. Tyrone, where a bomb, planted by the Real IRA, killed 28 people and injured 200, the worst atrocity in Northern Ireland’s history.
Ryan lived at Glen Road, in Yonkers, with his mother, Agnes, twin sister, Rachel, and a younger sister, Joanne.
"He was not the type of person who would take off by himself," Rachel said. "He was very passionate about his music and his guitar. He left everything behind."

"Not knowing is the worst. I am there lying in bed thinking where he is and what happened to him."
"This is driving us crazy not knowing," Joanne said.
Dan Ryan was born in England and raised in County Clare. He came to the U.S. in 1986, when he was 12. He attended high school in Bronxville.
He is 5-foot-11 and 175 pounds. He has a fair complexion, is of medium build with green eyes and long, sandy-colored hair, often tied in a ponytail.
At the time of his disappearance, he was wearing a black shirt, blue jeans, black sneakers and a beige baseball hat which he usually wore back to front.
