Fullback Una Cronin gathered a clearance pass at the end of the goal box and buried the ball into the upper-left corner of the net to give league leaders Harps a 1-0 overtime victory over Sean Og’s and a spot in the league final against Lansdowne.

Saturday’s Bronx Irish Soccer League semifinal was a well-played affair with neither team able to score in regulation and the first half of the overtime period.

Sean Og’s was hampered when top scorer Teresa Doyle was forced to move to sweeper after a teammate was injured. Sean Og’s Deirdre Heffernan had a great defensive game, shutting down the Harps offense.

For Harps, Marie Flood made several strong runs in an effort to get her team on the scoreboard.

Lansdowne, though missing several regulars, booked their place in the title game with a convincing victory over Beal Bocht. Beal Bocht had the same problems fielding a team that they have had all year and started the game with just eight players. They got it up to 10 with 15 minutes gone, but already they were a goal down.

Sue Wallace opened the Lansdowne account with a shot to the top of the net from 25 yards out.

Beal Bocht responded by pressuring the Lansdowne goal toward the end of the first half but found keeper Leslie Monsalve in great form.

Lansdowne stepped up the pace in the second half with goals by Karen Becker, Loretta Duffy and Melissa Mann which put the game out of reach.
