St. Patrick's Day Memories: Kevin McPartland

Playing for the New York Shamrock S.C in Greenville, South Carolina against a professional team in front of a capacity crowd of 10,000 people at the Shamrock Stadium. Have you ever marched in the New York City St. Patrick's Day Parade? I've marched with the Dublin Society. Five essential Irish albums that should be part of everyone's music library: The Joshua Tree by U2; Astral Weeks by Van Morrison; Back To The Centre by Paul Brady; Home by Hothouse Flowers; Ordinary Man by Christy Moore. How much green do you wear on March 17th? My New York Shamrock Soccer Club uniform . . . from head to toe! Do you eat corned beef & cabbage on St. Patrick's Day? How about soda bread? Both . . . being Irish, you can't have one without the other. As for the soda bread, it soaks up the pints of stout on the big day. Favorite Irish film? "My Left Foot." Favorite Irish book? "I Remember it Well." Favorite Irish song? "Mysterious Ways." Complete this sentence: The most Irish thing about me is . . . having a pint with my New York Shamrock teammates after a game of soccer on a Sunday at the clubhouse (The Courtyard Bar, Sunnyside).
