Just in time for Independence Day, Dan Rooney is the U.S. ambassador to Ireland.
Rooney will present his credentials to President Mary McAleese on Friday and will host his first Independence Day celebration as ambassador at the weekend.

Maybe this year could be different for Dublin. Hammering Leinster opposition is nothing new, of course, but there's a feeling abroad that maybe there's more to them this year. They ate Westmeath whole on Sunday, never gave them the slightest hint that they were going to be involved in a game of any substance. They were three points up within the first two minutes and thereafter it was just a matter of how many they'd win by. The answer was lots.
